TO: Ghanaian Citizens, Foreign Dignitaries, and Ghana Supporters,
Ghanaians always find it nauseating and revolting when they are informed about GNPC’s multi-million-dollar expenditures for exploration, development, and production of oil on behalf of Ghana, and as partner with the foreign oil companies, yet, Ghana receives less than 25% of all the multi-billion-dollar oil revenues. Ghanaians are now questioning the technocrats who negotiated the oil contracts, the politicians who approved those contracts in the first place, and the foreign interests including the IMF, the United Nations, and foreign countries that leveraged support for those predatory oil contracts for pithy “development aid”, while mass attention was engineered (foolishly, in our humble opinion) to focus on “Revenue Management”.
The FTOS-Ghana PSA campaign, in partnership with NGO CNREM, has done the work. The work has culminated in the delivery of this letter and report with 16 prescriptions (See Attachment) to President John Mahama on 20 January, 2025. The letter calls for the immediate adoption of the 16 prescriptions into a Model Petroleum Agreement with minimum mandatory standards below which the GNPC, the Petroleum Commission, and the Ministry of Energy, may not condone, allow, or negotiate because Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana deserves better.
We request that you widely distribute the materials to your friends, family members, colleagues, associations, mosques, churches, and business interests. Please inform them and urge everyone to strongly question Ghana’s oil contracts. Together, we must all demand a fair share of Ghana’s oil revenues for sovereign Ghana. The FTOS-Gh PSA Campaign proposals should be minimum requirements for all oil contracts – to begin.
