SUMMARY
The authors insist that the revised 2025 Ewoyaa lithium agreement—negotiated under Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah—is fundamentally exploitative and must be withdrawn. They reject the idea that Ghana should rush to extract minerals before they “lose value,” calling that argument baseless.
They reaffirm six previously stated objections:
- **No sign‑up bonus**, raising concerns about corruption.
- **Royalty cap of 12%**, preventing Ghana from benefiting from future price increases up to $3000/Ton, or more.
- **Weak value‑addition commitments**, with no real plan or funding for local refining or job creation.
- **Outdated natural resource laws**, leaving Ghana without a fair-share framework.
- **Harm to Ewoyaa residents**, whose lands and livelihoods have been disrupted - abandoned citizens of Ghana.
- **Ethical breaches**, including allowing Atlantic Lithium into a government–CSO meeting about a contract that affects the company's bottom-line.
They add a **seventh point** in the current paper: Ghanaian officials are undermining the country’s bargaining power by publicly worrying about falling lithium prices, even though historical data, Atlantic Lithium’s own statements, and global demand trends show Ewoyaa is highly valuable. As evidence, they note that Atlantic Lithium recently rejected a lucrative buyout offer because its executives believe the Ewoyaa asset is worth far more.
The authors conclude that the agreement remains a “predator’s racket” against Ghana and a betrayal of Kwame Nkrumah’s vision, notwithstanding what Kofi Buah says.
